Sydney, Singapore, Fukuoka Trip 2007

Monday, March 05, 2007
bacTook me a while I know.
Its really troublesome to upload all these photos and videos
And after a little while you start to tell yourself.. "I'll finish it later"
Then over a month and half later, Finally its done.

Tues 23rd Jan 2007 - Fri 26th Jan 2007
Sydney, Australia

My flight was 550am on Qantas QF574
I arranged Akasia to take me to the airport and was supposed to be picked up at 4am.
So as expected at 4am I got a phone call saying that she is downstairs ready to go.
BUT... the unimaginable had actually happened... I fell asleep and managed to do only around 20% of packing.
So she and Ming came up to my room and witness me THROW everything into my suitcase.
How Uncool is that?!

Anyway, I still manage to make it to my flight with pleanty of time on hand since I told Akasia 430am but she insisted at 4am.. and shes really good with her time, especially at occasion like this.

I would have chosen a later flight, like mid-day flight, but this flight is the only one that was serviced by Airbus A330-300 international configured aircraft, which not only meant dual-aero bridge for faster embarkation and disembarkation but also Audio and Video On Demand (AVOD) on board to pass the 4 and half hours away.
As expected with ALL airline food, breakfast was shit.

Welcome to Singapore!!

First night went to this place to eat I dunno where..

Pam
Dennis
Besides Dennis, I havent met all for such long time.
They all work in Singapore now and leading their own lives.
Missed you guys so much!!

After dinner, rushed off to meet Mod at the airport as she made sure to coinside her visit to Singapore from Thailand with mine.
Esther as usual being clueless, didnt really know when or where her flight would arrive. Hahaha.
Then Sandra wanted to show off saying you can find out her flight using teletext.. But that failed.
In the end Dennis just used the Internet. haha.

After Mod arrived, we went off to Zouk!! Saw one of the flight attendant from the previous flight and seemed to have recognised me too.. that was cool... haha

Toast box... thats another story altogether
First time I've ever eaten soft boiled egg
First time I ordered a drink without knowing what the hell it was

After all that Sandra took Mod and I around the town.. or should I say Country?

All good times must come to an end...
Saying bye as I head off to Japan...

Good bye Singapore~!!

Tuesday January 30 2007 - Wed February 7th 2007
Fukuoka, Japan
Although the flight from Sydney to Singapre was packed,
the flight from Singapore to Fukuoka was quite empty. Almost everyone on board I noticed were able to get a whole row to lay down and have a sleep.
Which was probably a good thing as the flight left Singapore at 1am arriving in Fukuoka at 8am.

Flying into the city of Fukuoka
Landing in Fukuoka International Airport, Japan

Japan being Japan, went thorugh immigration and customs smooth and fast although there were 4 other flights that arrived around the same time.
My grandmother was at the arrival lobby to greet me.
The temperature was around 4 degree at the time of arrival.
So I put on the coat that I was lugging around Changi Airport in the extreme heat.

Suburban View of Fukuoka from my uncles apartment
Pretty dirty...

The streets of the suburb...

Left: The Mall area of Mitsukoshi Department store in Fukuoka.
Theres all the branded stuff here, LV, Tiffany, Gucci, Coach..
Right: Ferris-wheel at Marinoa City Fukuoka.

Then on the Weekend it snowed. Heaps
The city area being in the city, the snow melted quite fast.

On the other hand was heading back to my home town of Iizuka on the highway bus.
Could still see lots of snow around.

My hometown, where I was born is a town an hour or so drive from Fukuoka.
Its surrounded by mountains so the temperature there gets really cold actually.
One night it was -5degrees.
And.. I caught a cold!!

Right: With my mom's cousin

Myoujouji temple that my grandfather now rests...
On the Sunday went to this place called Mojikou taking the shinkansen.
Just a 20minute ride which usually take around an hour.

Departing Hakata Station and accelerating until the top speed of 300km/h

Left: Mojikou Station
Right: Kanmon Bridge that links Honshu and Kyushu
Right: That night went back to Fukuoka and met my friend from Taka.
Walk around, have dinner, drink, etc..

On the Monday went to Dazaifu Tenman Guu
Probably most famous one in Kyushuu, and of course in Japan!!

Despite the cold weather on the odd days, Ume was already blossoming at Dazaifu.
They had two types, white one and pink one.

With my Grandmother.. the photo I use on MSN now.. but I cut her off.. haha

Left: This bull, if u stroke its head then your head, supposed to get smarter. I mean just not the head.. If you had bad knees, stroke its knees then yours suppose to get better.
So stroke its *ahem* then your *ahem* then yeah... for those that really need it anyway.. haha
ANYWAY... there was this bunch of toursit from nearby country I wont mention where, although if you know me enough you could probably guess...
There must have been atleast 30 of these tourists. They were each taking their own sweet time, one by one to pat its head and take a PHOTO... OMG.. so annoying..

Canal City Fukuoka. One of the Nicest shopping centre in Fukuoka away from the Tenjin District.

Musical Water Fountain Display

Tenjin District , where theres buildings after buildings of department stores in every direction possible.
And underneith where I took this photo lays Tenjin Underground Mall which is few hundered meters long.
The shops there are mostly for girls and stuff. But theres connection to all the department stores, 1 bus station, 1 train station and 2 subway station.

Tenjin at night
After a week or so in Fukuoka, it was time to go back to Perth
Flight from Fukuoka to Singapore was SQ655 on Boeing 777-200
Another empty flight.

Left: My boarding pass.. I didnt get a Singapore Airline one, got ANA one instead!! Yay!!
Right: Ground staff waving good bye.

Left: Flying over Phillipines
Right: SQ 215 from Singapore to Perth
The front half of economy class was relatively full but the back was empty as.. Got to lay down again..!!
